Cochrane Library






The Cochrane Library consists of the following databases:

  • the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews - the biggest and most important part of the Cochrane Library; it includes systematic reviews and protocols relating to the effectiveness of the treatment, prevention and rehabilitation in the context of health care; systematic reviews are registered in Medline database (PubMed);
  • the Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE) - it supplements Cochrane Systematic Reviews; it is a unique database which contains abstracts assessed in terms of quality of the reviews; it also includes structured abstracts of systematic reviews within experts commentary;
  • The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Cochrane Register) which contains information about the study with a control group taking place around the world;
  • the Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews which contains protocols and systematic reviews on methodology of research;
  • the Cochrane Methodology Register with articles on the methods of synthesis of research results;
  • NHS Economic Evaluation Database that includes - contains shortcuts of economic analysis that have been critically analised;
  • the Cochrane Library alphabetic contents of every database can be viewed separately. Cochrane database of reviews can be also viewed by themes, individual focus groups, surveys in the new edition, updated surveys on the issue. You can also search by using keywords alone or by using conjunctions such as AND, OR, NOT.
